Music for the Soul

I am a Taiwanese-American from Memphis, Tennessee. I began playing the violin at 3 years old and piano at 6 years old. With a foundation in the Suzuki method, I developed a love for both solo virtuoso and symphonic works in the classical realm. As a young soloist, I performed concertos with the Memphis Youth Symphony and Georgia Tech Symphony Orchestra. I have also served as concertmaster for multiple symphony orchestras.

Having spent a significant portion of my formative years in Memphis and Atlanta, I easily fell in love with the intricate and delicately woven sounds of R&B and rap. At the same time, my violin skill set has grown to include various fiddling techniques to accompany my classical background. Although the combination of classical training, an R&B and rap environment, and country fiddling may seem to be at odds with one another, I have found that merging all these elements have unlocked  a unique perspective from which I view and perceive the musical world around me.

Today, I freelance as a violinist, arranger, and composer for various engagements around the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I regularly record as a session artist with the band Tim Be Told. As a Christian artist, I also work with many wonderfully gifted artists in the area and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. These engagements have greatly deepened my understanding and broadened my musical repertoire to span a multitude of cultural worship styles.

I truly believe that music is a "heart language" spoken by many, including myself. Through it, I have witnessed God stirring up amazing spiritual experiences from within that are impossible to explain with words. To me, music is the most genuine way to communicate emotions such as joy, pain, hope, and longing, all without speaking a single word.

I pour my soul into the music I make and play, as I am unable to fathom any other way of creating music. My sincere hope is that, through the mystery of music, lives will be transformed and all those who hear its sound will experience God's love and compassion deep within their soul in ways that they have never imagined before.
