About Michael
My name is Michael Lu, and I am a violinist based in the San Francisco Bay Area (more specifically Sunnyvale, California) with over 25 years of performance experience. Classically trained via the Suzuki Violin Method, I also have extensive improv experience creating violin renditions of popular songs of today as well as writing customized string ensemble arrangements.
Over my career, I have performed live at weddings, memorial services, and dinner parties. I have also played at multiple church worship teams and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship events, including with the Performing Arts Team at Urbana '15.
My violin has been featured in various session recordings. To date, I have been credited for violin/strings in singles and albums released by artists such as Tim Be Told, Rick Ross, and Jae Jin.

Solo Violin, String Trio & Quartet
I have organized and performed at live events with requested instrumentation ranging from solo violinist to string quartet. Past events include various weddings, corporate/university events, and church worship sets. I specialize in both classical and contemporary pop music arrangements for strings.

I have extensive experience playing violin for recording sessions. Past recordings have been featured on albums released by artists such as Tim Be Told, Rick Ross, and Jae Jin. I am comfortable sight-reading sheet music as well as improvising as needed for the track.
